New Bowmore whiskies in Warsaw


Bowmore Nº1 /40% – As of spring of 2017 the Bowmore Distillery core range includes three expressions: Nº1 Malt, 12 years old and 15 years old finished in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The new kid on the block is Bowmore Nº1, which replaced Small Batch Reserve. The whisky is matured in first fill ex-bourbon casks for unspecified period of time and bottled at 40% abv. It is excellent entry level malt combining sweet vanilla and honeycomb notes with layers of peat smoke. Bowmore is one of handful distilleries in Scotland, which still uses its own floor maltings, however only 30% of malt requirements is being produced on site.

Nose: peat smoke, vanilla, honey, coconut shavings, cinnamon, lemon peel, apples, gooseberries and touch of oak.

Palate: malty, vanilla, honey, milk chocolate, apples, oranges, sweetened lime juice, coconut shavings and peat smoke in the background.

Finish: medium long, combination of vanilla, honey and peat smoke.


Bowmore Golden & Elegant 15 years old /43% – In the early 2017 Bowmore Distillery replaced its entire Travel Retail range with three exclusive bottlings marking the company return to age statements so much appreciated by many whisky drinkers. Each of the three new expressions: Dark & Intense, Golden & Elegant and Deep & Complex contain whiskies aged in different types of wood. Golden & Elegant comprises whiskies aged in first fill ex-bourbon casks for a minimum of 15 years and bottled at 43% abv. Bowmore Distillery was founded in 1779 and is now part of Beam Suntory. It is equipped with two pairs of stills capable of distilling 2 million liters of spirit per annum.

Nose: fresh and elegant, with delicate smoky and iodine notes, vanilla, honey, salty caramel, lemons, peaches, bananas, apples, hints of tobacco and leather.

Palate: rich and nicely balanced, honey, vanilla, golden syrup, salted nuts, oranges, bananas, dash of garden herbs, distant whiff of smoke and touch of oak.

Finish: fairly long, with notes of citrus, vanilla, sea salt, hints of smoke and delicate spicy notes.


Bowmore Deep & Complex 18 years old /43% – Bowmore Deep & Complex comprising whiskies aged for a minimum of 18 years old in ex-Oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. All new bottlings included in the range carry age statement, which most customers would truly appreciate.

Nose: smooth and sweet with restrained peaty notes, bitter orange marmalade, black currants, gooseberries, walnuts, raisins, coffee beans and hints of damp wool.

Palate: slightly oily, with delicate smoky notes, chocolate-coated raisins, mixed nuts, toffee, bitter oranges, plums and just a pinch of salt.

Finish: fairly long and warming, bitter orange marmalade, raisins, dashes of salt and pepper and delicate smoky notes.
