Fred Laing, who parted ways with his brother and business partner Stewart the year before, splitting portfolio of Douglas Laing & Co, introduced the XOP range in 2014. The abbreviation stands for Xtra Old Particular and the range consists of the best of the best single malt and single grain whiskies from the family vaults. Invergordon is the only Scottish grain distillery located in Scottish Highlands. The distillery is owned by Whyte & Mackay, since 2014 subsidiary of Emperador Inc., and produces over 40 million liters of spirit per annum with most of the output going into company’s blends. Invergordon 55 years old was distilled May 1966 and aged in refill barrel # DL 15414 then bottled at natural strength of 50.3% abv as part of XOP range in January 2022.
