Glenmorangie Tuiga 25YO (Yacht Club de Monaco Limited Edition) /52,2%/
Glenmorangie Tuiga is the distillery tribute to the namesake yacht, one of the most beloved vessels in the Principality of Monaco.
Crafted in 1909 at William’s Fife renowned boatyard on Scotland’s Firth of Clyde, Tuiga remains an icon of her shape and class. Acquired by Yacht Club de Monaco on the initiative of its president, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, in 1995, her classic lines were meticulously restored, so that with Yacht Club de Monaco she could race again. The whisky bearing her name was distilled in 1995 (no surprise) and aged in an ex-bourbon cask for a quarter of a century, then bottled at a natural strength of 52.2% abv in 2021. The barrel produced 270 bottles. (Official tasting note.)
Aroma: elegant scents of mint and jasmine ripple through notes of pears, apples and lemon blossom’s gentle zest. Then fragrant incense comes to the fore with Glenmorangie’s classic butter candy notes. A splash of water brings top notes of roses and carnations laced with wild mint.
Taste: Meltingly smooth and buttery with vibrant citrus and a tropical whirl of ripe peaches, sweet mango and pear, cut through with passion fruit’s tang. The notes of toffee apple and vanilla glide gracefully on the palate with hints of sweet chili and ginger.
Finish: eucalyptus and vanilla sweetness are delicately touched by oak tannins.
