1 of only 138 bottles…
The original Family Casks Collection was released in 2007 and comprised whiskies from the best casks from the distillery’s warehouses, bottled at cask strength and of natural color.
The collection included 43 different bottlings, with one for each year from 1952 to 1994. The Family Casks are unique and we are not aware of any other collection of old and rare whiskies that covers 43 consecutive years from the same distillery.
Here we have Glenfarclas 1961, a notable continuation of the ambitious project, part of the renowned Family Cask range. The whisky was aged in ex-sherry hogshead # 3055 for over 50 years and bottled at natural strength of 41.7% abv on July 9, 2014. The cask yielded 138 bottles.
Unfortunately, we had no chance to taste that whisky, we know however, that 1961 was one of the best Glenfarclas vintages. The year before the distillery installed the second pair of stills.
