American Barrels Small Batch Bourbon /45%/ – American Bourbon Barrels was founded in 2014 by Mike Reed, then 24 years old, in Fort Meyers, Florida. The presentation of his whiskey represents two particularly important things to most Americans, whiskey barrels and gun barrels. The upper part of the bottle has a rattlesnake wrapped around it, evocative of the Gadsden flag (the flag designed by general Christopher Gadsden during the American Revolution), while the lower part resembles a brass shotgun shell. The American Barrels Bourbon is distilled in South Carolina from mash composed of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley. After being aged in oak barrels for unspecified period of time the whiskey undergoes a proprietary filtration process called “post-barrel ultrasonic refinement”.
