Fighting Cock 6 years old Kentucky Straight Bourbon /51,5%/ – Fighting Cock is one of many bourbon brands from Heaven Hill portfolio and one of more then few that do not consume big part of the company’s marketing budget. The Fighting Cock marketing slogan from the late 20th Century “diamond in the rough” has changed to “the bad boy of Bourbon” yet the whiskey remains the same, bottled at 103 US Proof (51.5% abv) still attracts younger drinkers. The brand enjoys great popularity in the South, where locals call it “kickin’ chicken”. Since the late 2015 Fighting Cock has been bottled without age statement (previously as 6 years old).
Nose: pretty spicy, ginger, pepper, caramel, vanilla, dark chocolate, moist hay, pine resin and oak.
Palate: slightly spirity and oily, caramel, vanilla, toasted nuts, pepper, ginger, allspice, toasted rye brad and oak.
Finish: pretty long, nutty and oaky, candied ginger, pepper, bitter oranges and caramel.
