Daviess County Bourbon Finished in Cabernet Sauvignon Casks /48%/ – Daviess County Distilling Company was founded in 1874 and operated until 1919, when the State of Kentucky approved the state constitutional amendment banning the sale of alcoholic beverages. In the 1990s Luxco Inc. acquired the rights to the Daviess County Distilling name but did not re-launch Daviess County product line until 2019. The company worked with the private label distiller to create a batch of rye bourbon and wheated bourbon to blend them together in order to create Daviess County Straight Bourbon. Here we have Daviess County bourbon aged for four years and finished in California Cabernet Sauvignon casks for six months. In 2018 Luxco opened Lux Row Distillery in Kentucky; in January 2021 they were acquired by MGP Ingredients for $475 million.
Nose: red berries, raisins, caramel, vanilla, milk chocolate, hints of coconut flakes, buttered rye toast, dash of cinnamon and oak.
Palate: caramel, toffee, vanilla, mixed berries marmalade, milk chocolate, black pepper, cinnamon, clove and toasted oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of caramel, red wine, dried fruit, pepper, cinnamon
