The owners of Arran Distillery are no strangers to experiments; they love to play with different types of wood as well as with various types of malt. Machrie Moor is a peated version of Arran whisky distilled from malted barley of phenols’ content of 20 ppm. It is inspired by the tale about the warrior giant Fingal who chained his favorite dog to a stone in a mystical peat bog called Machrie Moor located on the west coast of the Isle of Arran. Arran Machrie Moor was introduced in 2010 with cask strength edition following four years later. The second cask strength release comprises whisky bottled at 55.2% abv with an outrun of 9000 bottles.
