Craigellachie 14 years old Intensity (D.2006, B.2020) Old Particular The Spiritualist Series / 52% / – Douglas Laing’s The Spiritualist Series, introduced June 2020, follows its Elements Collection, and is another sub-range of exceptional Old Particular selection.
Three Old Particular bottlings have been released over the course of this year with a bespoke illustration. The first, ‘Balance’ was 14 years old Islay single malt from undisclosed distillery, followed by ‘Harmony’, 28 years old Cameronbridge single grain. Here we have the third installment called ‘Intensity’. The whisky distilled in 2006 in Craigellachie Distiller was aged in ex-sherry butt for 14 years and bottled at natural strength of 52% abv with n outrun of 309 bottles. “The Spiritualist Series takes inspiration from the mindfulness phenomenon and encourages whisky enthusiasts to take some time out from the bustle of their daily live and enjoy a moment of harmonious calm”.
Nose: strong sherry notes, cocoa powder, roasted coffee beans, raisins, prunes, black cherries, almonds, honey, dash of black pepper and faint hint of sulphur.
Palate: dark chocolate, roasted nuts and almonds, raisins, black currants, bitter orange marmalade, nutmeg, black pepper and sherried oak.
Finish: long, with notes of dried berries, raisins, dark chocolate, toffee, honeyed almonds, touch of leather and sherried oak.
