Bruichladdich Waves 7 years old / 46% / – Bruichladdich Waves debuted in 2006. Originally this young whisky was intended for Italian market but soon became part of the distillery core range. Thanks to aging in ex-bourbon and finishing in ex-madeira casks Waves offer (according to the label) lots of “Atlantic freshness”. The barley used for Waves was malted with the concentration of phenols of 18 ppm. The bottling was phased out in 2012.
Nose: light and fresh, malty, dry grass, apples, delicate peat smoke and sea breeze.
Palate: nicely balanced, toffee, caramel, vanilla, candied orange peel, hint of salt and lingering smoky notes.
Finish: long, fruity and spicy.
