Redemption Bourbon /42%/ –
The Redemption brand was launched in 2011 by the small independent bottler, Bardstown Barrel Selection Inc. The brand gained some popularity and in June 2015 Bardstown Barrel was acquired by Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, Connecticut based distributors of wines and spirits. Currently there are three bourbons offered under Redemption label – High Rye, Wheated and the one presented here marketed as “a true reflection of America’s Native Spirit”. The bourbon is distilled from mash composed of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley in MGP Indiana and aged on average 2.5 years in new charred American oak barrels.
Nose: vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, ginger, pepper, sweet cereals, unripe peaches, hints of pencil shavings and charred oak.
Palate: brown sugar, sweet cereals, vanilla, butterscotch, roasted peanuts, dash of white pepper and licorice and charred oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, caramel, pepper, licorice, oak char and dash of dried herbs.
