Kavalan Whisky Triple Sherry Cask /40%/ – In 2016 Kavalan Distillery celebrated not only its 10th Anniversary but also finished an expansion, which made it one of the ten largest malt whisky distilleries in the world. Kavalan is currently equipped with ten pairs of stills and can produce close to 10 million liters of spirit per annum. Kavalan whisky debuted in 2008, and its success has been unprecedented. After being in the market for less than ten years, it scored close to 200 medals and awards. In addition, no less than a million whisky fans visit the distillery each year. In October 2021, the company launched the Kavalan Triple Sherry expression. The whisky is a vatting of whiskies aged in three types of sherry casks – Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, and Moscatel. Indeed, it is an offering no sherry cask matured whisky enthusiast can refuse.
Nose: rich and fruity, red apples, oranges, raspberries, cherries, malted barley, mocha, hazelnuts, clove, cinnamon, and hints of tobacco.
Palate: raisins and sultanas, black cherries, dried apricots and figs, milk chocolate, cinnamon buns, candied ginger, and a touch of oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of milk chocolate, caramel, cinnamon, red berries, tobacco, and oak.
