Chivas Regal 12 years old, Brothers Blend /40%/ – The Chivas Regal brand was introduced in 1909, roughly 16 years after Alexander Chivas, the last family member, passed away. It was 25 years old whisky created by Charles Howard, the company master blender. The whisky quickly established itself as the world’s first luxury Scotch whisky. After the First World War Chivas Regal returned as 12 years old, what is today the company core expression. The Brothers Blend was introduced in 2012 as Travel Retail exclusive and is a tribute to the company founders, brothers James and John Chivas. The blend contains higher proportion of Strathisla and Longmorn malts and is presented in elegant purple box adorned with the image of Chivas brothers themselves.
Nose: very smooth, vanilla, honey, buttered croissant, apricots, oranges, lemon curd, dried flower petals and touch of oak.
Palate: soft, vanilla, toffee, honey, banana bread, orange peel, pears in syrup, sugared nuts, hints of allspice and white pepper and subtle oaky bitterness.
Finish: medium long, sweet and mildly spicy, with notes of toffee, vanilla, honey, pepper, hints of clove and oak.
