Auchentoshan 13 years old (D.2007, B.2021) Artist Collective #5.6 /48%/ – Artist Collective’ was introduced in 2017 by the Parisian retailer La Maison du Whisky as a sub-range to the prestigious ‘Artist’ range. While the latter is a selection of single cask bottlings, Artist Collective in most cases falls into small batch (or rather very small batch) category. Label of each whisky is adorned with a work of contemporary artists from different backgrounds, what makes each edition extremely appealing. Auchentoshan 2007 was part of Artist Collective fifth series released in 2021. The whisky was finished in first fill sherry butt and bottled at 48% abv. The label features artwork ‘Aquarelle’ by Théo Guignard.
Nose: fruity and slightly waxy, apricots, oranges, cherries, black currants, toffee, mocha, honey, hints of dried porcinis and hazelnuts and pipe tobacco.
Palate: nicely balanced, prunes, dried apricots and figs, roasted chestnuts, honey, dark chocolate, licorice, a drop of balsamic vinaigrette and sherried oak.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of dark chocolate, toffee, cinnamon, ginger, sherried oak and hints of roasted nuts.
