Edradour Ballechin #6 Bourbon Cask /46%/ – Ballechin is an estate in Perthshire, home to the farm distillery, which ceased operations in 1927. In 2006 Edradour Distillery resurrected the brand with a release of Ballechin # 1, as a part of The Discovery Series. It was young, heavily peated whisky aged solely in first fill Burgundy casks. Batch # 6 was released in 2011, it was a young whisky aged solely in ex-bourbon barrels. Alike previous batches it was bottled at 46% abv with an outrun limited to 6000 bottles.
Nose: earthy (walk in the woods) and smoky, vanilla, caramel, smoked meats, oak and ground pepper.
Palate: lots of peat smoke followed by caramel-vanilla sweetness, marzipan and nutella spread.
Finish: fairly long, smoky, toasted bread, vanilla and oak.
