Benromach 2011 Single Cask (Bottled 2021) La Maison du Whisky /60,1%/ – Benromach, the smallest commercial distillery in Speyside, sits on the outskirts of Forres. The recent upgrades increased its capacity by 40%, to 700,000 liters per annum. Since 1993 the distillery has been operating under the ownership of Gordon & MacPhail, the leading independent whisky bottling company. The owners masterfully developed the brand and built extremely attractive product range. Here we have Benromach distilled on January 24, 2011 and aged in first fill sherry hogshead # 37 for ten years, then bottled at natural strength of 60.1% abv on June 30, 2021 exclusively for the Parisian retailer La Maison du Whisky. The cask produced 311 bottles.
Nose: malted barley, bunch of wild flowers, red apples, grapefruits, raisins, vanilla, honey, milk chocolate, hints of beef broth and delicate mineral and oaky notes.
Palate: pears, Mirabelle plums, pineapples, raisins, mixed fresh herbs, honey, vanilla, mocha, sweet cereals, black pepper and sherried oak.
Finish: fairly long, slightly mineral, with notes of milk chocolate, vanilla, mixed berries, raisins, sherry and oak
