Arran 12 years old, Cask Strength, Batch 4 (2014) /53,2%/ – Batch #4 is another creation of James MacTaggart, Arran’s Master Distiller. It is the vatting of Arrans aged in first fill ex-sherry butts, second fill ex-sherry hogsheads and second fill ex-bourbon barrels. Batch # was released in the fall of 2014 with an outrun of of 15 000 bottles. Arran 12 years old cask strength was a double gold medal winner at the China Wine & Spirit Awards, 2014.
Nose: nicely balanced, malty, slightly nutty, dried fruit, citrus, touch of ginger and marzipan.
Palate: firm and clean, citrus, red fruits, sweet spice, nougat, hint of oak.
Finish: medium long, malty, oaky and citrusy.
