New whisky for tasting in Warsaw
Glentauchers 1996 (Bottled 2015) Gordon & MacPhail / 43% – Glentauchers Distillery was founded in 1897 by James Buchanan and W. P. Lowrie to secure supply of malt whisky for their blending operations. Buchanan became sole proprietor in 1906 and in ten years his company merged with John Dewar & Sons. Needless to say Glentauchers remained a main component to Dewar’s and Buchanan’s blends. Since 2005 Glentauchers has been owned by Chivas Bros. (subsidiary of Pernod Ricard) and supplies malt mainly for Ballantine’s, Teacher’s and Chivas brands. There is no official bottling, the brand however is part of Gordon & MacPhail Distillery Labels selection and is available through special retailers. The 1996 Vintage bottled 2015 is a vatting of first fill and refill sherry butts.
