Longmorn 16 years old /48%/ – Currently owned by Chivas Bros, subsidiary of Pernod Ricard, produces 4.5 million liters of spirit per annum but until recently the owners did literarily nothing to promote the Longmorn brand. Reason – Longmorn is an integral part of several of the company blends, especially Chivas Regal 18 years old and Chivas Royal Salute. In the early 2017 Chivas replaced the 16 years old expression introduced in 2007 (aged exclusively in ex-bourbon barrels) with a ‘reinterpreted’ new 16 years old created using a higher proportion of first fill ex-bourbon casks, along with ex-sherry casks and European oak casks. The whisky is bottled unchill-filtered at 48% abv. Longmorn the Distiller’s Choice, 16 and 23 years old form the first permanent range from the distillery.
