Jameson Irish Whiskey Caskmates Fourpure Limited Edition /40%/ – Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition was a tremendous success, no wonder that the Jameson people soon followed with more similar releases. Here we have 2019 limited edition created in cooperation with London based Fourpure Brewing Company. The barrels for that edition were originally used for bourbon aging, later housed Jameson’s triple distilled whiskey then sent to Fourpure for experimenting. A total of five beers were trialed, out of which the winner was Shapeshifter West Coast IPA. The barrels seasoned with Shapshifter returned to the Midleton Distillery warehouses to be filled with Jameson whiskey and rested for additional three months.
Nose: citrusy and hoppy, pineapples, oranges, passion fruit, apricots, vanilla, pound cake, brown sugar and delicate oakiness.
Palate: malted barley, butterscotch, oranges, grapefruits, apricots, vanilla, caramel and perfectly integrated hoppy and oaky bitterness.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of breakfast cereals, vanilla, orange peel, oak and hops.
