Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 2010 OLC:01 /55,1%/ – Part of the Cask Exploration series, Port Charlotte OLC: 01 is one of the most unusual expressions from award winning Bruichladdich Distillery. Its rarity is two-fold. Few single malts originally start their journey in such a complex combination of casks and fewer complete the journey in genuine Oloroso sherry hogsheads from a fine Spanish bodega like Fernando de Castilla. The whiskey distilled back in 2010 from the 2009 crop of Scottish barley this heavily peated (40ppm) single malt was first filled into array of casks: 30% first fill American oak, 40% second fill American oak, 25% Vin Doux Naturel Casks and 5% second fill Syrah casks. They were vatted together and finished in first fill Oloroso hogsheads for 18 months. Port Charlotte OLC: 01 was released in 2020 with an outrun of 30,000 bottles.
