Talisker X Parley, Wilder Seas /48,6%/ – Talisker Wilder Seas was launched in 2023 as the second expression released in collaboration with Parley for the Oceans, the distillery’s non-profit partner in ocean conservation. (The first one was Talisker 44 years old Forest of the Deep released a year before.) Talisker Wilder Seas is a non-age-statement single malt finished in XO cognac casks and bottled at 48.6% abv with an outrun of 17,940 bottles. Talisker will donate £3 from each bottle to Parley for the Oceans, what means a total of over half a million pounds. The packaging is extremely environmentally friendly; the bottles are made from 100% recycled glass produced using biofuels, there are no labels and presentation cartons, just a neck tags made exclusively from recycled paper.
Nose: mildly smoky, sea salt, seaweed, malted barley, salted caramel, toffee, overdone toast, prunes, dried figs, white pepper, and hints of moist soil and gravel.
Palate: raisins and sultanas, figs, milk chocolate, caramel, toffee, sea salt, seaweed salad, black pepper, toasted oak, and distant whiff of smoke.
Finish: medium long, with notes of light smoke, sea salt, iodine, dried fruits, caramel, black pepper, and oak.
