The GlenDronach 47 years old (D.1968 B.2016) Single Cask #5837 45,9% –
There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that 47 years old expression was a true jewel in Batch # 13 of GlenDronach Single Cask Series, according to the distillery statement the oldest GlenDronach in their warehouse. Cask no. 5837, ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead, was filled on September 24, 1968. After 47 years of tolls taken by greedy angels 301 bottles survived with alcohol content reduced by celestials to 45.9%.
Nose: intense, full-bodied aromas of dark treacle, sour plums and rich prune syrup combine with fragrant herbal notes and faint cigar smoke.
Palate: an impactful sherried character laden with dark prunes and molasses. A torrent of vibrant orange bitters and dark espresso holds intriguing hints of eucalyptus and pine needles.
