Edradour 11YO (D.2012, B.2023) Sauternes Cask Matured /48,2%/ – In 2002 Signatory Vintage Co. acquired then the smallest Scottish distillery, Edradour for £5.4 million. In the next few years the new owners expanded product range tenfold releasing a lot of bottlings finished in various types of wood, many of them single cask. In no time, Edradour earned cult status and hundreds of thousands of followers around the world. The whisky presented here was distilled in 2012 and aged in eight first fill sauternes hogsheads (nos. 175-178, 181, 182, 190, 192) for over 11 years. Bottled at 48.2% abv of natural color and without chill filtration on May 17, 2023 with an outrun of 2695 bottles.
Nose: fresh and fruity, spring meadow, apples, grapes, apricots, lime curd, linden honey, mocha, vanilla, butterscotch, and a dash of lemon pepper.
Palate: vanilla cream, white chocolate, marzipan, peaches, apricots, grapes, candied lemon peel, honeyed almonds, herbal tea, and hints of oak tannins.
Finish: medium long, with notes of ripe yellow fruits, honey, vanilla, pralines, dash of pepper and mixed herbs.
