New scotch for tasting in Jastrzebia Góra

Kilchoman Marsala Cask /54,3%/ – Kilchoman Distillery started producing whisky in June 2005 and the brand was launched in September 2009. The initial reviews were excellent and in 2019 the distillery completed an expansion doubling its capacity to 480,000 liters of spirit per annum. Right from the start Kilchoman has been experimenting with various types of wood for full and finishing maturation. Here we have a very interesting expression of Kilchoman bottled exclusively for the Polish importer of the brand, M&P Company. The whisky distilled on September 20, 2012 spent nine years in bourbon barrel, then finished in ex-marsala cask # 591 for ten months; it was bottled at natural strength of 54.3% abv on August 31, 2022 as part of M&P Cask Collection Club. The cask produced 246 bottles.

Nose: peat smoke, walnuts and hazelnuts, raisins, caramel, honey, vanilla, red berries, black cherries, dash of white pepper, and a whiff of sea breeze.
Palate: sugar-roasted nuts and almonds, mixed berries marmalade, orange peel, salted caramel, vanilla, white pepper, dash of nutmeg, and whiffs of peat smoke.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of peat smoke, summer berries, caramel, vanilla, dash of mixed spice and sea salt.
