In 2022 the event took place from May 24th to May 26th (two previous events were cancelled due to COVID-19). To commemorate the occasion Glen Scotia Distillery released limited edition of their peated expression. The whisky distilled in 2013 was originally aged in first fill bourbon barrels for over seven years, then was transferred into first fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The Festival edition was bottled at natural strength of 56.5% abv without chill filtration on March 17, 2022 with an outrun of 24,000 bottles.
Nose: sweet smoke, seaweed and sea breeze, toffee, vanilla, caramel, apples, pineapple, strawberries, smoked plums, black pepper and hints of pipe tobacco.
Palate: raisins and sultanas, dried figs and dates, mixed berries, salted caramel, vanilla, milk chocolate, honey, licorice, dash of black pepper and distant whiff of smoke.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of milk chocolate, salted caramel, grilled pineapple, sea salt, black pepper and a wisp of smoke.
