The Ultimate , Edradour 9 years old (D.2011, B.2020) /59,1%/ – The Ultimate Whisky Company was founded by Han and Maurice van Wees in Amersfoort, Holland in 1994. The van Weeses bottle their whisky unchill-filtered and of natural color either at cask strength or at 46% abv and each bottle is numbered with cask details stated on the label. Since 1994 over 1000 expressions have been released under ‘The Ultimate’ label. Here we have one of the most recent releases, Edradour 9 years old. The whisky distilled on May 6, 2011 was aged in first fill sherry butt no. 179 and bottled at natural strength of 59.1% abv and without chill-filtration on September 30, 2020. The butt produced 661 bottles.
Nose: strong sherry statement, plums, raisins, black cherries, hazelnuts, crème brûlée, toffee, cinnamon, cocoa powder, hints of nutmeg and oak.
Palate: gingerbread, roasted nuts and almonds, caramel, raisins, dark chocolate, bitter orange marmalade, dash of black pepper and sherried oak.
Palate: long, with notes of sherry, raisins, dark chocolate, espresso, roasted nuts, pepper, hints of leather and oak.
