Ardmore 10 years old (D.2011, B.2021) Marsala Cask Finish, The Cooper’s Choice/ 51,5%/ – Ardmore Distillery was built in 1898 by William Teacher & Sons to supply malt for the Teacher’s blends. In 2005 the distillery became part of Jim Beam Global and when Beam merged with the Japanese conglomerate Suntory in 2014 the distillery ownership was transferred to the newly created conglomerate, Beam Suntory. Throughout the 20th Century the official bottlings of Ardmore were very scarce however form 2015 to 2020 the brand sales increased by incredible 275% and crossed 700,000 bottles mark. Here we have Ardmore distilled in July 2011, aged in traditional oak casks then finished in Marsala cask # 9405. Bottled of natural color and without chill-filtration at 51.5% abv by The Vintage Malt Whisky Co. as part of the Cooper’s Choice range in 2021 with an outrun of 324 bottles.

 
Nose: sweet barbecue smoke, malted barley, vanilla, caramel, cherries, red currants, orange peel, hints of ginger and cinnamon and oak.
 
Palate: fruity and pleasantly smoky, caramel, toffee, mixed red berries, blood oranges, licorice, allspice, candied ginger, hints of pepper and oak.
 
Finish: fairly long, with notes of peat smoke, burnt sugar, barbecue sauce, mixed berries marmalade, pepper, clove and oak.
