Ardlair 11YO (D.2011, B.2022) The Ultimate /64,9%/ – The Ultimate Whisky Company was founded by Han and Maurice van Wees in Amersfoort, Holland, in 1994. The van Weeses bottle their whisky unchill-filtered and of natural color either at cask strength or at 46% abv, and each bottle is numbered with cask details stated on the label. Since 1994 over 1000 expressions have been released under ‘The Ultimate’ label. Here we have one of the most recent releases, Ardlair 11 years old. The whisky distilled on January 27, 2011 was aged in refill sherry butt # 900037 and bottled at natural strength of 64.9% abv without chill-filtration on October 13, 2022. The butt produced 539 bottles. Ardlair is the un-peated version of Ardmore single malt.
Nose: malted barley, ripe apples, cherries, red currant jam, pound cake, chocolate biscuits, honey, hints of cinnamon and nutmeg, and a touch of oak.
Palate: milk chocolate, plums, cherries, blackberries, honey-roasted peanuts, mocha, cinnamon, dash of black pepper, hints of tobacco and oak.
Finish: pretty long, with notes of milk chocolate, red berries, toffee, nutmeg, tobacco, and oak tannins.
