The GlenDronach 13 years old (D.2003 B.2016) Single Cask #4034 /52,5% – In the early October 2016 GlenDronach released its batch # 14 of single cask bottlings. This time Billy Walker, the company master distiller, selected twelve casks – eight ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheons and four ex-Oloroso sherry butts. The oldest whisky in the batch, 30 years old, came from the cask filled in 1985, the youngest one, 12 years old, from the cask filled in 2004. The 13 years old expression comprises whisky distilled on February 7, 2003 and matured in PX sherry puncheon no. 4034. The cask yielded 696 bottles of whisky at 55.5% abv.
Nose: stewed apples and peaches, plum pudding, milk chocolate, hints of vanilla and toffee, candied citrus peel and delicate notes of cinnamon and oak.
Palate: nicely balanced, chocolate-coated hazelnuts, vanilla, toffee, oranges, grapefruits, damson jam, hints of white pepper and cinnamon and distinct oaky notes.
Finish: fairly long with notes of vanilla, toffee, oak and delicate spiciness.
