New single grain for tasting in Warsaw

Invergordon 50 years old (D.1966, B.2016) XOP Douglas Laing / 49,7%Douglas Laing & Co, one of the most reputable independent bottling companies, used to be run by two Laing brothers, Stuart and Fred. In 2013, after almost 40 years of working together, the brothers parted their ways and split the old company portfolio. Fred Laing, who retained Douglas Laing name, launched XOP range the following year. XOP (Xtra Old Particular) contains the best of the best single malt and single grain whiskies from the family vaults. Invergordon Single Grain 50 years old comes from a single refill hogshead (DL 11182) filled in March 1966. Bottled in June 2016 at natural strength of 49.7% abv with an outrun of 261 bottles. Nose: spot the dunnage warehouse character – then soft autumnal fruit and cereal.
Palate: fabulously fructiferous with candy, gentle sugary spices and light oak.
Finish: more hard candy and barley sugar, plus soft, intriguing and warming spices.
