Glenkinchie Distillery is located in the village of Pencaitland, less than 15 miles southeast of Edinburgh. The distillery was founded in 1825 and until 1837 operated as Milton Distillery. Currently Glenkinchie is the only Lowland malt distillery in Diageo’s portfolio; it is equipped with one pair of stills and produces 2.5 million liters of spirit per annum with majority of the output going into Haig’s and Dimple brands. The 24 years old expression was part of Diageo 2016 Special Releases range. The whisky distilled in 1991 was aged in refill European oak butts and bottled at natural strength of 57.2%. It is the only official bottling of Glenkinchie aged exclusively in European oak. Only 5928 bottles were produced.
