Velvet Cap Irish Whiskey – The Velvet Cap brand takes its name from the velvet caps traditionally worn by jockeys in point-to-point horse racing. The brand was introduced by Thomas Power & Co. in 1880 and is currently owned by Blackwater Distillery. The latter was founded by Peter Mulryan in 2014. Originally located in Cappoquin, County Waterford, the distillery moved to Ballyduff, County Kerry, in 2018. Blackwater is equipped with three Italian-made stills and produces single malt, single pot still and blended whiskeys.
