Tullamore Dew Rouge 13 years old / 40%/ – The original Tullamore Distillery operated from 1829 to 1954 but the brand survived and even flourished, especially in Central and Eastern Europe. William Grant & Sons purchased the brand in the spring of 2010 and four years later newly built Tullamore Dew Distillery started operation. The original Tullamore Dew was triple distilled pot still whiskey but after the distillery closure the brand was acquired by Powers and reformulated as a blend. Today Tullamore Dew is the second best-selling Irish whiskey brand after Jameson, with annual sales of 14.4 million bottles. While the standard blend is composed of own single malt, single grain and single pot still whiskeys, single malt releases are usually made of sourced whiskey. Tullamore Dew Rouge was aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks and finished in ex-Bordeaux red wine casks.

Nose: black cherries, blackberries, red apples, plums, vanilla, caramel, milk chocolate, violet liqueur, allspice and toasted oak.

Palate: winey, toffee, vanilla, mocha, raspberries, cherries, red currants marmalade, hints of white pepper and cinnamon and subtle oaky dryness.

Finish: medium long, with notes of red berries, vanilla, milk chocolate, cinnamon, clove and oak
