Knappogue Castle 12 years old, Finished in Marchesi di Barolo Wine Cask / 46%/ – Knappogue Castle is a brainchild of Mark Andrews III, founder of Castle Brands (formerly Great Spirits) and big admirer of Irish whiskey. In the 1960s his father Mark Edwin Andrews bought and renovated the 15th Century Knappogue Castle, in County Clare. (Mark Edwin Andrews was a Navy officer, Assistant Secretary under president Truman, who enjoyed lucrative post-naval career in the oil business). Since the fall of 2019 Castle Brands operates as subsidiary of Pernod Ricard. Knappogue Castle Marchesi di Barolo Cask Finish is the third release in Knappogue Cask Finish Series. After being aged in white American oak casks for 12 years the whiskey was transferred into casks sourced from Marchesi di Barolo, the owners of some of the finest vineyards in Piedmont.
