Luxury spirits market forecasts for 2026. Which categories will grow, which brands will gain and which launches are consumers waiting for?

The luxury spirits market is growing dynamically both globally and in Poland. After years of economic uncertainty, the premium segment has proven to be extremely resilient and consumers are still keen to invest in high-end products. Further sales increases are expected in 2026, especially in specific categories, and the battle between brands for the attention of the most demanding customers will be even more intense.

Luxury spirits market growth to 2026

Global analysis indicates that the luxury spirits market will maintain a steady growth trend. The market is forecast to grow at a rate of between 2025 and 2029 from 2.3 to as much as 7.4% CAGR, depending on the methodology and scope of the segment. The stabilisation of demand and the growing popularity of premium products are making luxury spirits one of the most promising areas of the spirits industry.

In Poland, the dynamics also remain high. According to market data, the luxury spirits segment is expected to grow by an average of approx. 5.3% per year by 2029, and the whisky category continues to be the biggest beneficiary of this trend.

Which luxury spirits categories will grow most strongly in 2026?

Whisky - the undisputed market leader

Whisky (particularly single malt whisky and collector's editions) remains the mainstay of the entire premium segment. Forecasts for luxury whisky predict an increase in approx. 5.5% CAGR by 2029.

In Poland, it is already responsible for ca. 90% of the value of the luxury spirits market, making it the absolute leader in both sales and consumer interest.

Gin and premium tequila - dynamic contenders

Categories such as:

                - craft gin,

                - premium and ultra-premium tequila,

                - single island rums.

In 2026, the craft segment is expected to continue to grow, driven by the fashion for authenticity, storytelling and unique flavour profiles.

Premium rum - a category that is growing rapidly

Premium rum is becoming one of the most interesting and fastest growing segments of the luxury spirits market. Consumers are increasingly discovering its richness of flavours, multidimensionality of aromas and complexity of ageing processes. Rums aged in bourbon, sherry, port or even fortified wine barrels are gaining the most popularity. Craft distilleries from the Caribbean and South America are also gaining strength, offering limited editions and products with a terroir specific to a particular region. In 2026, it is rum - especially aged, single cask and small batch editions - that could become one of the most coveted categories among premium spirits enthusiasts.

Premium and super-premium vodkas

More and more consumers are reaching for vodkas from higher price segments, especially those produced in small batches or distinguished by their production technology. This trend is strengthening in Europe and is starting to become more pronounced in Poland as well.

Luxury wines and champagnes

Although the market in Poland is smaller than in the whisky segment, the growth in sales of premium champagnes and collector wines confirms the diversification of the tastes of affluent consumers.

Consumer trends that will define 2026

1. Authenticity and transparency

Premium customers want to know:

                - Where the product comes from,

                - how it was produced,

                - Whether the brand follows ethical and sustainable practices.

2. Storytelling and experiences

Luxury today is not just a product - it is also an experience. Brands are investing in:

                - tastings and masterclasses,

                - visits to distilleries,

                - personalised events,

                - narrative-based marketing.

3. Sustainable development

Premium packaging, eco-friendly raw materials, localness and transparency - these are elements that are increasingly decisive for customer choice.

What will we be looking for?

The growing popularity of craft distilleries means that consumers - especially younger and more informed ones - are looking for unique products:

                - small batch,

                - limited series,

                - unusual barrels,

                - local ingredients,

                - origin story.

The growth of this segment is clear both globally and in Poland.

How is the luxury spirits market different from the mainstream market and why is the latter declining?

The luxury spirits market is developing inversely to the mainstream segment, which has been losing value in recent years. While premium and ultra-premium spirits are recording stable growths, the mass-market category is facing a clear decline in sales. This is primarily due to changes in consumer behaviour: customers are increasingly going for 'less but better' products, choosing quality over quantity. Growing taste awareness, greater interest in unique brand stories and the premiumisation trend are effectively driving the luxury segment. At the same time, the mass market is under pressure from factors such as inflation, rising cost of living and market saturation with cheap products, which limits demand and forces consumers to be more selective in their purchases. In addition, the mainstream segment is more sensitive to tax or regulatory changes, while premium customers show greater economic resilience - which is why it is luxury, not mass-market, that remains on an upward trend.

What will the luxury spirits market look like in 2026?

                - The luxury segment will maintain a solid growth rate - both globally and in Poland.

                -             Whisky will remain the dominant category, but gin, tequila, rums i champagnes will gain.

                - The biggest increases can be expected in premium, craft and limited edition brands.

                - Consumers will be looking for authenticity, quality and unique experiences that go beyond the product itself.

                - The year 2026 will bring many launches, especially of collector whiskies, luxury tequilas and craft products.
