New single cask for tasting in Warsaw


Longrow 13 years old Single Cask (D.2003, B.2017) / 59,1%/– Longrow whisky takes its name from the distillery operated in Campbeltown, next door to Springbank between 1824 and 1896. The only remnant of the distillery, other than resurrected brand, is one bonded warehouse, converted to bottling plant and still used by Springbank. While standard Springbank single malt is distilled from barley malted from 12 to 15 ppm, in case of Longrow phenols’ level reach 55 ppm. Longrow 13 years old presented here is a single cask release from September 2017. The whisky distilled in the fall of 2003 was aged in first fill sherry butt and bottled at natural strength of 59.1% abv and without chill-filtration with an outrun of 540 bottles.

Nose: sweet and smoky, slightly mineral, raisins, plums, orange marmalade, chocolate cookies, nougat, caramel, smoked meats and sherried oak.

Palate: slightly oily, peat smoke, sherry, raisins, prunes, cranberry relish, nuts and almonds, dark chocolate, salted caramel, dash of black pepper and oak.

Finish: long and smoky, with notes of dried fruit, roasted almonds, dark chocolate, licorice and sherried oak.
