Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19yo / 46,2% – The first age-statement whisky in the Ardbeg core range for 20 years. Ardbeg 19yo Traigh Bhan (pronounced TREE-VAHN) is a combination of American oak and oloroso sherry. It is to be bottled in limited annual batches, yet it is to become a permanent addition to the core range. According to the manufacturer, individual batches may vary a little. The new whisky from Ardbeg was named after a sandy beach on the southern coast of Islay, known locally as “Singing Sands”,
Nose: Peat smoke, oakiness, leather, toffee, liquorice and pineapples. Some citrus, vanilla and slight sulphury notes.
Palate: Pronounced smokiness, chocolate, chili peppers, oak, tea leaves, some saltiness, a touch of white chocolate, a hint of peppermint.
Finish: Long, smoky, with notes of oak, peat and chocolate.
