Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Espresso Roast / 43,2% – The Johnnie Walker brand certainly doesn’t need any introductions; with global annual sales of 17.4 million cases (2016) it is by far the best selling Scotch whisky. In recent years Diageo, the brand owner, expanded the range with more then few new releases. In August 2017 three new expressions of Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch were unveiled at the Diageo Reserve World Class Cocktail Competition in Mexico City. Espresso Roast is the result of an experiment led by Johnnie Walker blender Aimée Gibson (with aid of coffee expert James Hoffman), which involved distilling whiskies with barley roasted more heavily than ever before. The components of the blend were matured in rejuvenated casks and first fill bourbon casks.
