Bunnahabhain Ceòbanach / 46,3% – A new (2014) small batch release from Bunnahabhain reflects the early days of the distillery producing then smokier whisky. Ceòbanach (pronounced ‘kyaw-bin-ach) means “smoky mist” in Gaelic and it is a perfect name for this expression. The whisky was aged in ex-bourbon casks, carries no age statement (in our knowledge is about 10 years old). As with all Bunnahabhain expressions, Ceòbanach is unchill-filtered and bottled with the alcohol content of 46.3%.
Nose: intense and pungent, peat smoke, sea breeze, light tar, smoked meats and hints of citrus.
Palate: initially sweet and malty, soon becoming smoky, peaty with sweet vanilla and salty caramel.
Finish: long and warming, sweet oats with salty tang.
