The Macallan Concept Number 1 (2018) / 40% / –
The first in series, The Macallan Concept Number 1 is inspired by surreal art and incorporates innovative production techniques to create new singe malt. The whisky was initially matured in sherry-seasoned casks and then for an equal period of time in ex-bourbon barrels (the length of maturation remains a secret). For this release Macallan set aside 68 casks, which yielded 84,000 bottles. The label features artwork of famous French surrealist, Albert Simone. Macallan Concept No. 1 was launched in the late 2018 and each bottling in the series will be ‘one-off release’.
