New scotch for tasting in Jastrzębia Góra
Bunnahabhain Mòine / 46,3% – Mòine, a peated expression of Bunnahabhain whisky, was introduced in 2004. It was a limited edition of 7 years old single malt released for the Fèis Ìle (The Festival of Music and Malt). Bunnahabhain Distillery produces around 200 000 liters of peated whisky each year but almost entire output goes into Black Bottle blend, which is owned by the same company, Burn Stewart Distillers (now part of South African Distell Group). Mòine bottlings are very scarce, but in 2017 two finishes were launched, Port and Oloroso. Here we have a young Bunnahabhain Mòine released for the Swedish market in 2015. The whisky was bottled at 46.3% abv, of natural color and without chill-filtration.
Nose: peat smoke and sea breeze, iodine, apples, pears, lemon peel, dash of pepper and traces of burnt rubber.
Palate: similar to the nose, peat smoke, apples, pears, peaches, lemon tart, white pepper, sea salt and touch of licorice.
Finish: medium long, smoky and medicinal with pretty shy fruity and peppery notes.
