Arran 21 years old (2019 Release) / 46% / – Arran 21 years old was first introduced in November 2018, as limited edition of 9000 bottles. The distillery celebrated its 21st Anniversary in June 2016 and since it’s founding released over 1000 expressions of Arran Single Malt, many of which aged or finished in wide variety of casks, especially ex-wine casks. In September 2019 Arran single malt got a new modern look, it is being now presented in bespoke bottles with new labels and gift tubes but according to the company statement the whisky inside the bottle remains unchanged. Arran 21 years old, now part of the core range, is 100% matured in a mix of some oldest sherry butts from the distillery.
Nose: distinctive sherry notes, cocoa powder, toffee, hazelnuts, apricots, tangerines, cinnamon, ginger, mixed herbs and cedar wood.
Palate: nicely balanced, chocolate-coated raisins, nougat, candied ginger, white pepper, cloves, oranges, nectarines, honey and notes of sherried oak.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of sherry, dark chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, hazelnuts and oak
