The Balvenie The Creation of A Classic /43%/ –
In the spring of 2019 Balvenie Distillery introduced a new range of single malt whisky called the Balvenie Stories Collection. The distillery and the brand are built on stories that are told from one generation of craftsmen to the next. The latest ‘story’ is a celebration of David Stewart creativity and inventiveness when he created The Balvenie Classic. The first official bottling of Balvenie was launched in 1973, when single malts market share was less than 1%. Balvenie Classic was a brainchild of David Stewart, the company Malt Master, who conducted countless number of experiments until finding the ultimate cask combination: American oak, then Oloroso sherry butts for finishing. Introduced in the early 1980s Classic was the first “finished” whisky in the modern era. Balvenie the Creation of a Classic was launched in the late 2021; the whisky was aged in American oak barrels and finished in ex-Oloroso sherry casks.
