Straight from the Cask range is a perfect example how wine and whisky can complement each other. It offers Edradour single malt aged in wine barrels and bottled at natural strength. The whiskies included in the range are presented in handsome wooden boxes. The Edradour presented here was distilled on March 17, 2006 and aged solely in ex-Madeira cask no. 128 for 11 years. Bottled at natural strength of 59.4% abv on September 21, 2017 with an outrun of 961 bottles. Madeira is a fortified wine made in the Portuguese Madeira Islands, off the coast of Africa. Approximately 85% of Madeira is produced with the red grape Negra Mole.
Nose: fruity, raspberries, black cherries, ripe grapes, buttered toast, caramel, toffee, milk chocolate and dash of cinnamon.
Palate: soft and sweet, raspberries, strawberries, oranges, sponge cake, honey, nougat, hints of cocoa powder and oak.
Finish: medium long, fruity, with notes of red berries, walnuts, white pepper and subtle oaky bitterness.
