New scotch for tasting in Wrocław

Edradour Ballechin 2005, 11 years old, Straight from the Cask (Bordeaux) / 53,4% /Straight from the Cask range of Edradour has been a tremendous success and recently the distillery decided to expand it with several expressions of Ballechin. The latter is a smoky version of Edradour distilled from barley malted to specification of 50ppm phenols. It was introduced in 2006 and gained great popularity ever since. Ballechin Straight form the Cask is another example how whisky and wine can complement each other. Here we have Ballechin distilled on December 6, 2005 and aged in ex-Bordeaux cask no. 378 for 11 years. Bottled ‘straight from the cask’ unchill-filtered and at natural strength of 53.4% abv on September 13, 2017 with an outrun of 399 bottles.
Nose: good balance between peat smoke and fruity sweetness, raspberries, blackberries, raisins, milk chocolate, vanilla and touch of hay.
Palate: smoky and winey, ripe dark berries, caramel, raisins, chocolate-coated hazelnuts, black pepper, hay and just a pinch of salt.
Finish: fairly long, with lots of peat smoke, dark berries, bitter chocolate and pepper.
