Dalwhinnie 20 years old Cask Strength (D.1986 B.2006) / 56,8% – Dalwhinnie is one of the highest Distilleries in Scotland, is sits at 1073 feet (326 meters) above sea level. We are certain that every whisky drinker is familiar with 15 years old expression, which was included into “Classic Malt” range back in the late 1980s. The 1986 Vintage is a different breed. The whisky spent 20 years in refill European oak barrels and was bottled at natural strength of 56.8% abv in 2006 with an outrun of 4200 bottles. Now, almost a decade later it deservingly enjoys collector’s attention.
Nose: rich, initially malty and nutty, soon becoming fruity, plums, strawberries, gooseberries, peaches, hints of coffee and distant trace of smoke.
Palate: smooth and refined, pretty strong sherry statement, cherries, bitter orange marmalade, sweet cereals and just a touch of oak.
Finish: long, fruity and spicy, dried fruit, cloves, ginger, traces of oak.
