Macduff 20 years old (D.1995, B.2015) Signatory Vintage / 55% – Macduff Distillery is located in Banff, in eastern Highlands. Since 1993 the distillery is owned by John Dewar & Sons, subsidiary of Bacardi, and produces 3.3 million liters of spirit per annum. While the owners market their single malt under Glen Deveron (recently The Deveron) brand Independent Bottlers use the distillery name. The 2015 Signatory bottling contains whisky distilled on March 3, 1995 and aged in a couple of hogsheads (no. 7869 & 7872). Bottled on June 8, 2015 at natural strength of 55% abv with an outrun of 479 bottles.
Nose: malty, with sweet notes of honeydew melon, grapes and figs, butterscotch, lemon tart, honey roasted nuts, hints of fennel and oak.
Palate: fruity and malty, pineapple, figs, peaches, breakfast cereals with raisins, vanilla, candied lemon peel, hints of pepper and ginger and oak.
Finish: medium long, fruity with delicate notes of oak and spice.
