Highland Park 12 years old (D.2005, B.2018) Austria Edition /62,6% – Highland Park has been doing extremely well in recent years; in 2017 the brand sales increased by 24% to reach the highest level in history – 1.7 million bottles. The entire range was rebranded in 2017 with several new excellent expressions added, what certainly helped to boost sales volume. The core range of Highland Park consists of seven expressions aged from 10 to 40 years, there is a separate range for Travel Retail, not to mention limited editions such as 50 years old and finally the Single Cask range. The latter was introduced in 2016 and counts over 100 releases to date, what translates to an impressive one release weekly. Here we have Highland Park distilled in 2005 and aged in refill puncheon no. 3793 for 12 years. Bottled at natural strength of 62.2% in 2018 exclusively for the Austrian market with an outrun of 642 bottles.
Nose: vanilla, butterscotch, honey, nectarines, oranges, raisins, plum butter, hazelnuts, nutmeg, hints of cocoa powder and fading hint of smoke.
Palate: vanilla cream, cappuccino, honey, bitter orange marmalade, dark cherries, blackberries, dark chocolate, hints of candied ginger and touch of peat.
Finish: long and intense, with notes of honey, oranges, dried cherries and apricots, dark chocolate, roasted nuts and distant whiff of smoke.
