The Port Askaig brand has been around for several years; it was introduced in 2009 by Sukhinder Singh, the owner of The Whisky Exchange and Specialty Drinks Limited. The idea behind the project was to bottle the finest malt whiskies from the Isle of Islay, recognized for their sweet, fruity flavors and smoky and peaty character. Each expression within the range is bottled in small batches, always at natural color and without chill-filtration. The company does not disclose, which distillery supplies whisky for the Port Askaig brand however many whisky drinkers point to Caol Ila (we’ve heard recently that there is more than one distillery behind the brand). Port Askaig 100 Proof was launched in 2015 and comprises whisky aged in American oak. 100 Proof refers to the old British system and translates to 57.1% abv.
